School Gates opened from 8.30 am

Our school gates will be opened from 8.30 am each morning. Please do not enter the school through the front office before school begins at 9.00 am unless you have an appointment or business to conduct with front office staff.

We recommend that children begin to arrive at school approximately 10-15 minutes before the start of the school day at 9.00 am and assemble outside their classroom. In the event of inclement weather, children will be called to proceed under cover or inside the building as appropriate.

Safety rules and procedures before school

• Students must not play on playground equipment before or after school.
• Students must dismount and walk bicycles, scooters and skateboards when entering school grounds.
• Students arriving via the Perry Drive carpark entrance must dismount and walk bikes from the road entrance. It is not safe to ride bikes, skateboards and scooters on the Perry Drive carpark footpath or roadway.
• Students who are dropped off before gates are opened are asked to behave in accordance with the schools PBL concepts displaying Responsible, Safe, and Respectful behaviour. It is not safe to participate in ball games or other physical activities in these areas as they are most usually situated near busy traffic areas.
• Executive staff will complete a walk around from 8.40 am to 9.00 am each morning to ensure students are assembling safely.

If you are regularly required to drop your child off at school before 8.30 am, it is recommended that to ensure their safety, you make arrangements for them to attend and be cared for in the Out of School Hours Care Program (OSHC). Bookings can be arranged at Chapman Primary P&C Out of School Care program (OSHC).

Entry to the school - kindergarten to year 6

The school has several entry points located in the perimeter fencing around the school boundary. Children in kindergarten to year 6 can enter through any gate that is convenient for their families drop off arrangements and should proceed to assemble outside their classrooms. Initially, it is recommended that families with students in kindergarten enter and exit via the gate closest to the kindergarten classroom area on Perry Drive often referred to as "The Kindy Gate" while they become familiar with and confident in moving around the school independently.

Preschool student drop off and pick up

The designated Preschool drop off area is the gate located in the schools boundary fence of the preschool playground, this is in the walkway next to the school closest to Chapman Shops. Students must be delivered to preschool staff by parents or carers. Preschool students must not be left unaccompanied in the preschool outside space or be allowed to play on playground equipment.

Drop off and Pick up Zone

The Perry Drive carpark at the front of the school has a kerb side drop off and pick up area for to pull up to and safely allow children to get out of or into cars. Please be aware that start and end of school times are extremely busy and drivers should move on quickly and safely as is possible.

This area is a No Stopping Zone. Drivers are asked not park and leave vehicles unattended in this area at any time. If you are required to leave your car unattended please park in one of the designated parking areas in the carpark or on the street kerbside.
