National Ride2School Day

Posted on 21 Mar 2019

Kids are encouraged to pump up those wheels, ride to school and embrace a healthier start to the day this Friday 22 March, for National Ride2School Day.

Riding a bike, skateboard or scooter to school provides a number of benefits to school communities, including healthier and more attentive students, reduced congestion, safer school environments and less carbon emissions.

There are a number of initiatives being delivered in the ACT to provide ongoing support to schools to encourage more children to walk or ride to school, including the Ride or Walk to School program, the Active Streets for Schools program and the School Crossing Supervisor program. Further information can be found via the Active Travel for Schools page.

To register your school for Ride2School Day and take advantage of the supporting resources and materials available, visit the Bicycle Network website. We encourage all Canberra’s schools and students to take part in Ride2School Day.

For more information about active travel programs and support available for ACT schools, contact TCCS’ Schools Program.
