The Australian Curriculum identifies 17 motor skills that are essential for primary school students to master. Students are taught fundamental motor skills, components of each skill, game strategies, how to work cooperatively and how to accept winning or losing. The programme is directly in line with the Australian Curriculum. Along with our specialist program, every class at Chapman Primary provides students with 150 minutes per week of physical activity as part of planned physical education (PE) and sport programmes.
Throughout the school year, students have the opportunity to engage in a range of sporting events including our annual athletics, swimming and cross-country carnivals. From these events, selected students can then go on to represent the school at local, district and national events.
We also have a range of sporting organisations come to the school to provide clinics and students have many opportunities to participate in Gala Days.
As part of our school sporting events, students are placed into team houses. At Chapman these sporting houses are:
- Austin - Green
- Doyle- Blue
- Namatjira- Yellow
- Perry- Red
